New PhD – Elisabeth Berg Fjelltveit

Elisabeth Berg Fjelltveit has successfully defended her PhD on November 29, 2022. Her thesis was devoted to “Clinical studies of epidemic influenza and pandemic COVID-19 to improve the chain of patient care: from bedside diagnostics to long-term complications”.

Elisabeth responded to questions raised by opponents:

Opponent 1 – Doctor Nathan J Brendish, NIHR Clinical Lecturer and Specialist Registrar in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine, University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, UK

Opponent 2 – Doctor Johanna Kaartinen, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease specialist, Head of Division of Emergency Medicine, HUS Helsinki University Hospital, Finland

Prior to the defence, Elisabeth gave a trial lecture on “The future of point-of-care testing for infections in the Emergency Department”.

This was the fourth and final PhD defence in the Influenza Centre this year. Many congratulations and well done to Elisabeth with her outstanding success!
